CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Another holiday tradition is returning this year to Chicago: the holiday experience at Macy's Walnut Room.

If you are from Chicago, you know every holiday season Macy's on State Street goes all out and gets super festive - from holiday window displays, a letter to Santa station, and even Santa himself. But you should also know no trip is fully complete without a visit to the Walnut Room for a special meal and to gaze at the Great Tree.

This year, the Walnut Room holiday experience begins Saturday, Nov. 6 and reservations are open now via Open Table.

As always, the Walnut Room will feature a special holiday menu featuring favorites like Mrs. Hering's 1890 Original Chicken Pot Pie, classic meatloaf, cider glazed slow roasted breast of turkey, meatloaf, savory spice rub salmon, and braised short rib.

And if that is not enough to peak your interest, there are also festive holiday desserts, like build your own snowman, Frango mint cheesecake, and holiday yule log. Plus, there's a complete list of holiday cocktails and other drinks!

And for the kids, commemorative holiday mugs return this year with kid's meals. The mugs will also be available for sale, while supplies last.

The Walnut Room's holiday experience runs from Nov. 6 through Jan. 9. Hours vary by day. The restaurant will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 25), Christmas Day (Dec. 25), Dec. 30., and Jan. 8. It will host special hours on Black Friday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; New Year's Eve, Dec. 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; New Year's Day, Jan. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Jan. 9 - the Last Day of the Great Tree from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Reservations are available online via Open Table for the holiday season. For parties between 16 and 30 people, Macy's offers one large table in the Walnut Room Dining Room. This table cannot be booked via Open Table, so guests must fill out an online form to request a reservation.

The Walnut Room also has a private dining room option available for groups of 16 up to 50 in the 7th Floor Culinary Studio. The room is separate from the restaurant and will be decorated for the holidays. Note: there is not a view of the Great Tree from this room; however, as part of your dining experience, your guests will be able to have their picture taken in front of the Great Tree.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all guests are required to wear a face covering at all times unless when actively eating or drinking. Only guests with reservations will be permitted to enter The Walnut Room.

Additionally, Fairy Princesses will wear face masks and grant wishes with wands. To maintain safety and social distancing, fairies will not sprinkle fairy dust or gift wishing stones this year.
